Crohn's and Colitis Life

    Life insurance with Crohn's disease

If you live with Crohn's disease, you might have been told, or quietly assumed, that life insurance isn't for you. For most people, that's simply not true. It takes the right insurer and someone who knows how to present your case, and that's what we do.

The problem with the usual route

Crohn's is a condition of detail. It can affect different parts of the digestive system, behave differently from one person to the next, and change over the years. Generic application systems don't handle detail well. They see the diagnosis, not the ten quiet years since your last flare, the treatment that's working, or the surgery you recovered well from.

There's a practical risk too: a decline leaves a footprint that other insurers can see. Applying to the wrong insurer first can make everything after it harder. Talking to a specialist first protects you from that, because we can check quietly with insurers before anything formal is submitted.

What insurers look at with Crohn's disease

    • When you were diagnosed, and how the condition has behaved since
    • When your last flare was, and how severe it got
    • Your treatment: maintenance tablets, immunosuppressants, biologics, and any recent steroid courses
    • Surgery, such as bowel resections, with dates and how you recovered
    • Complications, such as fistulas or abscesses
    • Recent hospital admissions
    • Smoking, which insurers know particularly affects Crohn's

Long remission, stable treatment and good recovery from any surgery all genuinely strengthen your position. None of the harder items automatically means no.

    How it works

The same simple process for everyone. A quick, private health check online. A call with a specialist adviser who deals with Crohn's every day. Then we approach the right insurers, handle the paperwork, and keep you updated. Straightforward cases can often proceed without a GP report.
